Constitutional crisis

Back in 2018, the cricket superstar Imran Khan was elected Prime Minister. After some troublesome and hectic covid-plagued initial years of his administration, he fell into a constitutional crisis last year. Imran Khan accused the US of supporting the PDM-led cabal to remove him from office. PDM is the main opposition coalition founded in 2020 to oppose Khans leadership, which was growing increasingly unpopular and controversial. Khan found himself in Moscow on the very 24th of February last year and was increasingly seen as steering Pakistan away from US influence – perhaps in an attempt to remove focus from his mismanagement of the economy and judicial scandals. This was popular in some circles, but certainly not universally approved in the Pakistan political and military elite.
