Looking at short-term rate betas between the US and UK, it doesn’t seem like markets believe that a rate cut by the Fed would signal a green light for the BoE to follow suit. Aside from some relatively strong wage data, the UK’s macroeconomic indicators suggest that the economy may be ready for lower rates. As a result, markets might be caught off guard in this scenario.
